Remembering Pearl Esterbrook - my 7th grade teacher

Pearl Esterbrook was my 7th grade teacher - she wrote this poem in my autograph book when she signed it that year.  I have always remembered the first part;  it has helped me through many years and many tears.

It's easy to be pleasant
When life flows like a song,
But the girl worthwhile
Is the girl who will smile,
When everything goes dead wrong.
For the test of the heart is trouble
And it always comes with years.
But the smile that is worth
The praises of the earth
Is the smile that shines through tears.

And, Miss Terry ... I'm sure that Miss Esterbrook would be pleased to know that you've been a-smilin' ever since. Thank you for sharing this. So precious. <3
